TRITON MYTHOLOGY

The ocean crashed on the shores of the Greek isles. Triton, the Greek god of water and sea, grasped his conch and blew a mighty blast, to still the raging waters. He, alone, controlled the seas just as his father Poseidon once had.

His abilities were greatly admired in ancient Greece and Rome. Like other Greek gods, Triton had a combination of human and animal features. Described as a sea creature, he had the head and torso of a man, and the tail of a fish. Like many other gods and goddesses, Triton was immortal. His most critical ability was his divine power to control the sea.
